Black Sabbath

There are simple things you can do to piss off your friends and make them think you're crazy. For instance, tell them you thought Mash was better when Charles, BJ and Potter were on it. Tell them you like Andy Griffith after Don Knotts left. Tell them that Three's Company was just hitting its stride when Priscilla Barnes joined the cast. The doozy tho is this...and its a doozy cuz its true...Black Sabbath was better with Ronnie James Dio than it was with Ozzy Osbourne...Dio Sabbath..your Rocktober feature artist of the day.

I would have to agree. Heaven and Hell was one of the best Sabbath albums released.

Heaven and Hell quite simply is one of the 10 greatest metal records of all time. Don't get me wrong, Sabbath with Ozzy were the gods of metal, but they never prodcued an album as solid from start to finish as Heaven and Hell.

Many people do not know that I sang for Sabbath for 6 days in the late 80s.

ES was the Sabbath vocal stylist between the David Donato and Ron Keel eras.

The Dio era is by far the best, tho my favorite Sab LP is Born Again. I've got a bootleg of the Born Again demos (with an unreleased track!) and the demo mix is actually cleaner and brighter than the released mix. "Disturbing The Priest" still kicks ass.

Born Again was a great record. Gillans vox are top notch. Iommi's playing is so heavy. Was that the record that featured Bev Bevan of ELO on drums? I think that record would have been bigger had it not been for the cover art. Who approved that piece of shit? I'd love to hear those Born Again demos. I've tried in vain to land the Ray Gillan version of Eternal Idol but have had no luck thus far. When I'm bored I like to do You Tube searches for Sabbath and just watch the goodies fall into my lap.Lots of killer stuff on there. Found some video from the Born Again tour...Ian Gillan wasn't real solid on the Sabbath classics.

Bev Bevan toured that album but Bill Ward recorded it. I've got a Westwood One boot of that lineup and yeah, Gillan vox are a bit foggy on the classics. I love that cover, it's so horrible it's brilliant. It looks like a 9th grade stoner designed it in art class.

I think I may have the Ray Gillan demo boot, I'll have to dig thru my archives but I know at one point I downloaded it. Dimeadozen.org has nearly taken over my life at a few points thanks to all the incredible audio and video boots on there. I snagged a Y&T pro shot 1987 concert the other day, I love the Contagious album, even tho' it was a complete calculated sellout.

Sell out record it may be but that Y&T record is chock full of sing along songs. Its so full of hooks and easy to sing with songs I'm surprised the Wiggles haven't done covers for the kiddies.

I dunno man....that Born Again record cover always struck me as a poster for some right to life group. That devil baby looks like an aborted fetus thrown up against a purple background. I think it was drawn by a 9th grade stoner...probably while daydreaming during class.

I've never been able to get into dimeadozen.org. Always told they are maxed out.
