But Siriusly....

I've mentioned before how much I love my Sirius radio...but like any relationship we've been going thru some ups and downs lately. The first down was the loss of the NHL to XM. Further salt was rubbed in my wound with the announcement that The Greatful freaking Dead would be given their own channel. It might not bug me so much if there already wasn't a Jam channel which played pretty much nothing but Dead songs. I've noticed too that other than the Underground Garage, the playlists on the music channels have become incredibly repetitive. For 13 bucks a month I deserve to never have to come across Dear Mr. Fantasy again. Thats the downs for me with Sirius...the plus side is that E Street Radio is back today...all Bruce all the time. The other plus is the always entertaining Howard Stern. I don't care how many times he spanks a porn star...its always worth tuning to hear it.

If there is anything to take away from the mistrial in the Phil Spector case, its that its still legal for celebrities to commit murder in Los Angeles. So Kevin Federline if you're listening....if you feel the need to take out Britney...and I'm not saying to do it...but in the event that ya do, odds are you won't go to jail:http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-me-celebrity27sep27,0,4228013.story?coll=la-home-center

While Bush and his Generals want another $190 billion to fund the war, they don't seem to be making any investment in Walter Reed....further proof that Bush doesn't support the troops:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2007/09/26/ST2007092602560.html?hpid=topnews

Jerry Seinfeld and I have a lot in common. We both walk upright. We both have opposable thumbs. He had a show about nothing. I have a blog about nothing. Neither of us have seen an episode of The New Adventures of Old Christine:http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/r_m/index.html

5 bands that I hope never get Sirius channels dedicated exclusively to them:Genesis, Jethro Tull, Bread, Journey, and any southern rock band featuring a members whose last name rhymes with "cant' stant"

Who is taller...Billy Bush or Ronnie James Dio?

Tonight is the night....Van Halen opens up their pseudo reunion tour. By all accounts the band sounds good, looks good and is getting along good....er well. Should be a good time.

What does it say about your Columbus Blue Jackets when Ticketmaster is sending me coupons to save 10 bucks on tickets to the season opener October 5th? It says the honeymoon is over kids. The Jackets traditionally are an after thought until after OSU football season is over but to struggle to sell tickets to the opener? Maybe if the Zamboni were to roll over Zherdev during the game...I'd pay to see that...or Maybe the Mt. Dew girls can engage in some sapphic behavior on the ice...I'd pay to see that too. If violence can't sell tickets, girl on girl action surely can.

I gave up on sat radio some time ago; ended up giving my unit to my Dad. He loves it, like you I had become frustrated with the ever shrinking playlists. My ipod gets 10 times the use that my XM portable unit ever did. I thought about keeping it in case the merger goes thru but Howard's 36 weeks of vacation per year turned me off. Nothing pisses me off more than sitting down for lunch, going to marksfriggin.com and seeing that Stern is on yet another vacation.

The dew is certainly off the BJ's lily. Truthfully, I was amazed that the yuppies of Comblowus stuck with them for as long as they did. When the Clippers move to the arena district I predict the yuppies will give the stadium 2 years of sold out games then they will abandon it for the next "hip" place to be seen at. The diehards that go now will tell the Clip's to pound salt as there is no way they will pay $10 parking and $7 for beers.

I'm glad you brought up the Stern vacations. I forgot to include that in my list of downs. The summer was particularly bad as I think Stern maybe worked a month total. Plus the Mastertape Theatre Fridays are a waste. I'm glad Stern has his tapes but I don't think the show is as timeless as he seems to think it is. I'd rather hear a rerun of a recent show on Friday than a 15 or 20 year old show. Maybe they can run the "classics" at another day part but I tune right out when I hear mastertape theatre.

I thought the novelty of the Cbus Crew would have worn off by now too. Or the comic stylings of your pal Dino Tripodis. I also picked the Saints to go to the Super Bowl this year and they are 0-3. I obviously know nothing.

I find Dino Tripodopolis' comedy a bit bawdy for my tastes... I remember when Dennis worked at Sunny 95 and we went to a party at my future sister-in-law's house, she runs with the yup's and when Dino showed up everyone acted like Sinatra just arrived. Dennis used to go on right after Dino and was scared of Dennis and his long hair, so Dennis made a point to introduce me to him since I had my full Chuck Manson meets Tom Araya look going at the time. We didn't hit it off.

I threw the Dino story up cuz I was hoping you'd tell that story again. Thats one of my fave OMOM stories...how everyone at the party scattered and rolled out the red carpet for the celebrity. No talent ass clown that Dino is.
