Too Bloody Hot Tuesday

Soooooooooo....how 'bout this global warming eh? Does anyone really understand or care about the heat stress index? Was this an evil ploy by weathermen to have the summertime equal of the wind chill factor? I totally get the wind chill factor...maybe cuz its always been around. I don't remember Mom telling me to be careful going out to play in the summer cuz the heat stress index (which I believe is some wicked combo of the temperature plus humidity)made it feel like it was 107 degrees. The heat stress index is like Sweetest Day. Like the heat stress index, I choose not to observe it.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann is simply the best "news" show on television. I find its mix of hard news, weird stories, and infotainment to be one of the best hours on television. The former Sportscenter anchor is set to emcee the Democrats latest pre-election season scrimmage (I refuse to call it a debate with the election over a year away). Had things gone differently, Keith would have a much bigger stage than MSNBC. It seems before CBS unleashed the Katie Couric experiment on an unsuspecting public, Olbermann interviewed for the CBS Evening News gig:http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/tv/la-et-ontv7aug07,0,7373684.story?coll=la-home-entertainment

One thing Keith oughta ask these numbskull candidates from the opposition party is why, despite a public outcry against the war and against this sitting president, they continue to lack a spine:http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/07/opinion/07tue1.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Remember the 2004 election when the evangelicals went after gay marriage? I was just wondering why none of the candidates is going after fat people. After all, obesity is a public health problem and gluttony is a sin. Plus, the whole gay marriage thing is a tired act and the bible thumpers have to play some kinda card in the next election. Do they fear the power of the Dairy Queen lobby? As a former fat guy I stand beside my chunky brothers and sisters and wait for the day when the Christian Soldiers wage a holy war against us.

The Decider says we're gonna win the Afghan War....huh? Didn't he lead the American public into thinking we'd already won that war before the invasion of Iraq?:http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/2007/08/07/2007-08-07_im_no_loser_sez_w_-2.html

If you like sick, disturbing and sensational murder cases, (and what American doesn't?) here's a doozy out of NYC:http://www.nypost.com/seven/08072007/news/regionalnews/student_in_nyu_horror_murder_regionalnews_jana_winter___________jamie_schram________and_dan_mangan.htm

My 10th grade year we were given an essay assignment with the topic "If You Could Be Anyone in the World, Who Would It Be?" Being a 15 year old kid, I chose David Lee Roth. Hey dont laugh! Van Halen was huge at that time and DLR with his lifestyle of bimbos and parties appealed to me. Of course at that time I was too young to notice Roth's fading hairline and the possibility he might suffer from a case of latent homosexuality. Despite that, DLR was one of rocks all time great frontmen. He is the only lead singer of Van Halen that ever mattered. And if Billboard is to be believed, DLR and the Van Halen brothers (and Eddies kid) will announce their tour soon:http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003622049

Hell's Kitchen has been the highlight of the summer TV season but hey Fox Network...can I get an hour of my life back? Last nights show was a waste of time:http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20040769_20040772_20050290,00.html

There's a rumor that Tom Cruise may make an appearance in JJ Abrams Star Trek movie:http://trekmovie.com

Whitesnake singer David Coverdale had a run in with an angry fan recently....a black bear...Glad I'm not the only one who thought Coverdale sucked:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6931439.stm

More crap as it happens.............
